How to Use the Rule Book

A quick guide so you're not hunting through every page.

1. Start with General Rules

Safety & Event Procedures

Read the general rules first. They cover conduct, safety, tech inspection, re-hooks, and how each class will be run on pull night.

2. Pick Your Class

Match Your Vehicle

Find the class that best fits your truck or tractor – weight range, tire size, fuel type, hitch style, and performance level.

3. Build to the Specs

Details Matter

Follow the exact rules for that class: hitch measurements, safety equipment, engine limits, ballast placement, and body requirements.

Class Overview

This is a high-level look at the main Southern Pullers classes. Always use the rule book for exact wording and measurements.

Reminder: This section is only a summary. For tech inspection and event eligibility, the wording in the official rule book PDF always takes priority.

Questions? Talk with a SPA Tech Official

We'd rather answer your questions ahead of time than turn you away at the scales.

  • At an event: Stop by registration or the tech area and ask for a SPA tech official.
  • On Facebook: Message the Southern Pullers Association page with your class and questions.
  • Before you build: Send pictures, measurements, or ideas so we can help you pick the right class.
Do I have to bring my vehicle to a pull before I know where it fits?
No. You can reach out ahead of time, share photos and specs, and we'll help you understand which class is the best match before you ever hook to the sled.
What happens if my vehicle doesn't meet the rules the first time?
Tech officials will explain what needs to be changed. Sometimes it's a small fix (hitch height, weight, safety equipment). The rule book lays out what is required for your class.
